Dean a finalist for PAC vice president

Dr. Conrad Krueger, dean of arts and sciences, is one of five finalists for vice president of academic success at Palo Alto College.
An email to Palo Alto employees and students today said five candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions in forums Tuesday through Thursday.
Krueger is scheduled at noon-1 p.m. Wednesday in Room 200 of Brazos Hall.
Other applicants include Dr. Christopher Jeffries, chief economist at Foundation Economic Services Inc.; Dr. Dreand Johnson, dean of mathematics and sciences at Tarrant County College; Dr. Karen Sides, dean of interdisciplinary programs at St Philip’s College; and Elizabeth Tanner, dean of arts and sciences at Palo Alto.
The other four candidate forums will be in Room 109 of Pedernales Hall.Tanner is scheduled at noon-1 p.m. Tuesday;Jeffries 4 p.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday;Johnson noon-1 p.m. Thursday; and Sides 4 p.m.-5 p.m. Thursday.
Gary Shelman, dean of career and technical education at Palo Alto, co-chaired the 13-member search committee.
According to the email, the committee anticipates forwarding the names of the finalists to President Mike Flores by mid-November for consideration and submission to Chancellor Bruce Leslie and the Alamo Colleges board of trustees.
The position at Palo Alto was left vacant when Stacey Johnson, former vice president of academic affairs, left May 31 to become president of Valencia College’s East and Winter Park campuses.
Flores has been filling the interim vice president of academic affairs position as well as the president position at the college since Sept. 18.
Krueger could not be reached before deadline.
