The parking lot is located at 2222 N. Alamo St. and is fenced and will have security.
The parking lot will have lighting after daylight saving time in November, when it will get dark earlier.
Cooper said the college will lose about 450 parking spots because of construction.
Parking spots are limited in Lot 16 for remodeling in Moody Learning Center and in Lot 21 as a staging area for expansion of Scobee Planetarium and the Challenger Learning Center.
Lots 26, 33 and 31, near Main Avenue and West Evergreen Street, are also closed for construction of a garage and the Tobin Hill Lofts, public-private partnership.
Those interested in using the Playland Park area must have a college parking permit, which costs $50 for the academic year.
Parking permits are available at the business office in Room 201 of Fletcher Administration Center.
For students who don’t want to drive to campus, VIA Metropolitan Transit semester passes are also available in the business office for $35.
