At the end of the semester or by spring, Dr. Conrad Krueger, dean of arts and sciences and chair of the vice president search committee, said the committee would be ready to call in finalists to interview for executive vice president.
There were more than 30 applicants in the early stages, he said.
Krueger was unwilling to comment on how many candidates are remaining, but in the last regular Faculty Senate meeting Nov. 5, members stated the search had been refined to 10 candidates.
The candidates' names were not disclosed and Krueger said those names would not be divulged until a later time.
"Once we have the list to interview, you will be the first to know," he told The Ranger.
Krueger said the committee is using a few prerequisites to determine which candidate would fit the position best.
The board of trustees of the Alamo Community College District June 17 chose Dr. Kristine Clark, who had been this college's executive vice president, to fill the new vice chancellor for academic success position.
In her place music Chair Jessica Howard was chosen to be interim executive vice president.
Howard said she has applied for executive vice president.
Before Clark was hired, Dr. Thomas Hoy served for three years as interim executive vice president while several searches were done to find an executive vice president.
Hoy never applied for the position and Howard said he wanted to retire but served as interim on the wishes of President Robert Zeigler.
