Campus radio station KSYM 90.1 FM will host an on-air reunion of veteran radio personalities who got their start here Saturday.

The reunion coincides with KSYMs 45th anniversary. The station has been on air since 1967 when it was broadcast at 90.3 FM.

Donnie Meals, music business coordinator, is facilitating a tour for the former disc jockeys of Longwith Radio, Television, and Film Building.

The reunion will air 1 p.m.-3 p.m. and will feature interviews with former talents on radio stations KTSA and KTFM Hector Reyes and Sonny Rio.

Another participant will be Mark Carrillo who did “The SAC Show” for KTSA while attending this college and also made his motion picture debut in the 1997 movie “Selena.”

Steven O. Sellers, who hosts “KONO Public Affairs” for radio station KONO 101.1, will also be there along with Ray Whitworth, who has 37 years in Texas radio.

Many of the guest disc jockeys have decades of experience with multiple Texas radio stations, and they all got their start with this college’s radio station.

The reunion will be aired live from the KSYM studio on the second floor of Longwith.

Whitworth said in a telephone interview that the guest DJs will give a historical review of Texas radio as well as swap KSYM war stories from their time working there during the 1970s.

In addition, reunions for KSYM alumni will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Augie’s Barbed Wire Smokehouse, 3709 N. St. Mary’s St., and at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Vietnamese Garden, 543 Blanco Road.
