Letter to the Editor: Understanding representation rules

Editor:

  My name is Sarah Rodriguez, and I am vice president of Students United for the DREAM Act (SUDA).

Recently, there was a petition sent out with my signature and SUDA’s name attached at the end.

I feel there are no proper words to describe my sincerest of apologies toward this matter, meaning I am rescinding the signature.

The name of SUDA and the ties SUDA has with The Ranger have been jeopardized, and I am at fault.

My explanation is that having been a new officer at the time of signing, I honestly did not know the consequences of such actions.

I understand now the action of signing SUDA’s name is not a matter to take lightheartedly, but a matter that should be taken with full seriousness, the utmost clarity of mind, and the full support of the organization.
