About 60 people who couldn't find seats in the auditorium of McAllister Fine Arts Center, trickled into the Fiesta Room of Loftin to hear Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speak.

The Fiesta Room was set up with a projector for the overflow.

The crowd was diverse with a few students feverishly taking notes for extra class credit intermingled with entire families.

Kennedy's comments about the Bush administration being the "worst environmental White House ever" were met with vigorous applause.

But health sophomore Eric Douglas, who came to hear Kennedy speak for extra credit in his English class, said, "I didn't think he would trash the government the way he did. I thought he would focus more on environmental issues."

Douglas thinks Kennedy should be more realistic and understand that for corporations to make money, some pollution of the environment must be expected, he said.

Although Douglas agreed that environmental issues will most likely affect future generations, he is more inclined to think it will affect his children rather than him directly.

"I guess that does make me kind of a hypocrite," he said.

Theater sophomore Jessica Ramirez disagreed with Douglas. She believes corporations are so profit-driven they are failing in caring for the environment, she said.

"The government definitely does affect the environment," she said.

Ramirez thinks the environment is something young people should be concerned about for the sake of future generations.

Kennedy was right when he said America should be more well-informed, she said.

It is imperative for individuals to care enough about the environment to bring about change, she said. "Anyone can make a difference."
