More than 20,000 people attended the 10th annual Cesar Chávez March for Justice Saturday.
The march began at the intersection of Guadalupe and Brazos streets and ended at Alamo Plaza.
Loretta McAtee, state officer for the League of United Latin American Citizens, said they expected about 9,000 to 11,000 people to attend the march.
"It gets bigger every year," McAtee said.
The Cesar Chávez March for Justice was sponsored by the City of San Antonio, H-E-B, La Prensa, City Public Service Energy, the Coca-Cola Co., San Antonio Water System and Sheila Raviv, a woman who works with migrant workers in Minnesota.
Jaime Martinez, chair of the Cesar Chávez March for Justice, said Richard Chávez, who is Cesar Chávez's brother, was scheduled to be the grand marshal of the Cesar Chávez March for Justice but could not attend the march because of a death in the family.
Martinez said he began planning for the event in August.
Student volunteers and church unions distributed fliers to promote the event
McAtee said the march is held every year to remember Cesar Chavez's work with migrant workers and his philosophy of equal rights for everyone, no matter race or creed.

Coca-Cola sponsoring the Cesar Chavez March for Justice? What a contradiction!
Coca-Cola has been accused with numerous abuses in Colombia where unionists have been murdered, tortured and kidnapped; in India, where the Company is stealing water from the local communities and farmers, and elsewhere. (Continued…)
