Trying to access incident details on the weekly blotter on the department of public safety's Web site is not so easy this semester.
The department switched to the Crime Star records management system July 1, Sgt. Ben Peña said.
"Because of our new records management system and what's recommended by the U.S. Department of Education, we had to change our blotter," Peña said.
"Until this year, we were not fully trained and ready to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and the Campus Crime Statistics Act," Peña added.
"The new system provides quicker access to police reports by the public with the exception of cases when the identity of the victim cannot be revealed like sexual assaults cases, for example."
