Director: Neil Jordan
Producers: Joel Silver, Susan Downey
Actors: Jodie Foster, Terrence Howard, Naveen Andrews, Mary Steenburgen
Plot: In "The Brave One," radio talk show host Jodie Foster is happily in love one day and terrified the next, after her fiance is brutally attacked.
Foster becomes an emotionally raw vigilante hell bent on avenging everyone who has a traumatic situation. Tracked by NYPD and hounded by her own conscience, Foster takes justice into her own hands. However, her dark pursuit of justice gets out of control when a New York City cop, Terrence Howard, befriends her and causes her to think twice about her actions.
The only problem with the film is an unwillingness to commit to the tone. For the majority of running time, the film is begging to plunge into the depths of moral gray areas.
To its credit, Foster and Howard make a great team, playing off each other perfectly. This movie will appeal to moviegoers who prefer their hard-hitting vengeance served with a hefty side of introspection.
