For those of you who are evening students attending your classes after 4:30 p.m., hoping to use some of the open fitness facilities at the Candler Physical Education Center, not much has changed from last semester.
The most promising change comes from the conditioning room, which now offers later evening hours.
These hours include: 2 p.m.-5:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 3 p.m.-4 p.m., 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 2 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday.
The hours that remain unchanged for the Candler facilities are, the racquetball courts, the basketball gynasiums and the swimming pool, which have standard hours for all students designed for earlier usage.
Leslie Bleamaster, kinesiology and dance Chair credits the scheduling of hours, and the primary reasons for minimal alterations, to classes appointed for evening sessions.
There are also extramural events that have the areas reserved, such as training and practices, as well as games that take place on any given night.
Bleamaster also attributes some of the building's reservations to community activities and events that must be worked around on a regular basis.
Bleamaster said the Alamo Community Colleges differ from the University of Texas at San Antonio because on-campus living facilities usually have more opportunities for later hours.
