Today is the deadline for a response from the district department of public safety to a Freedom of Information request from The Ranger for the incident and investigative reports of the alleged February rape on campus.
On Feb. 13, a female student claimed while she was walking to her car at Main Avenue and Myrtle Street, she was dragged into a van by an unknown male and sexually assaulted.
She recanted her story June. 29, but the department of public safety closed the investigation without filing charges.
According to the Texas Penal Code, filing a false report is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000 and 180 days in jail.
