Students have a variety of options for copying and printing at this college.
Students have free access to the computer lab in the student learning assistance center on the seventh floor of Moody Learning Center.
If they want to print their work, they must purchase a printer card.
This reusable and rechargeable card can be obtained by paying $1, office manager Jennifer Fellows said Sept. 21.
By paying this dollar, students automatically have 50 cents available on it to use for printing.
Money can be added to the card, but no more than $20 can be on the card at one time, Fellows said.
These cards can be purchased at card-dispensing machines in the SLAC lab.
Students are not limited to printing academic papers at this lab, Fellows said.
They can print e-mails and other personal information. Pornography, however, is not allowed, she said.
After students hit the print button on a computer, the document is sent to a pay station, where students insert their card and select which document they want to print.
The cost for printing black-and-white pages is 10 cents each, and color prints cost $1 each.
Until the spring of 2006, printing at the SLAC lab was free, with a 20-page limit per day for each student.
However, the lab cut this free service because of careless use by the students, Fellows said.
She said that many times, students left behind several copies of what they had printed, which wasted paper.
The lab is open from 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
If students want to print creative assignments, the student multimedia lab is available.
This lab provides black-and-white printers, color printers and scanners for student use.
The cost for black-and-white pages is 10 cents each, and letter-size pages with color cost $1 each.
Students can also print poster-size pages, with the prices varying depending on the size of the paper, computer lab technician Michael Raso said Monday.
Before using the lab, students must sign in on the main computer with a Social Security number to prove that they are enrolled, Raso said.
If students want to make copies instead of printing, copiers are located on all three floors of the library in Moody.
These copiers are coin-operated, and the cost is 10 cents per page, librarian Tracey DeLillo said Monday.
The lab is open from 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 733-2106.
