The Adjunct Faculty Council plans to encourage more involvement among its ranks, and members are beginning by filling two vacant positions.

The council needs one new member to serve on the council at large, and another member to represent student affairs, which includes areas under counseling and student development, council Chair Amanda Martin said.

The at-large position is open to part-time faculty who work in any area.

Adjunct faculty members interested in nominating themselves must acquire a form from Javier Patron, evening, weekend and distance education employment coordinator, in Room 230A of Fletcher Administration Center. The submission deadline is Oct. 12.

Nominees will be voted on and should plan to attend the Oct. 20 council meeting at noon in Longwith Radio, Television and Film Building.

Aside from being required to attend regular council meetings, nominees who are chosen will be responsible for keeping the people they represent informed and helping with various projects that could come up during the year.

"We've got different committees that we need people for," Martin said, offering the Communications and Elections committees as examples.

"Encouraging more people to participate is going to be a goal," Martin said.
