Morning and afternoon classes are canceled Monday because of Employee Development Day events planned at the AT&T Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Students taking evening classes that begin after 5 p.m. will still meet.
The theme of Employee Development Day is "Engaging in our Student Success."
The opening presentation will include the district's chancellor, Dr. Bruce H. Leslie, handing out commemorative plaques and pins to faculty and staff celebrating their 25-year anniversary of service to the district, and the keynote speaker will be former student Arthur J. Johnson.
Johnson is a nationally renowned motivational speaker and author of the book "Ignite the Fire Within!"
Homer Smith, training and development manager, said attendees will have a choice of seven breakout sessions that are repeated in the morning and afternoon.
The breakout sessions include reaching out to partners, targeting student groups across the community, using resources effectively, helping each student succeed, flexibility to meet student and community needs, telling the Alamo Community College District's story and employees make the difference.
The closing speaker will be Jackie Beede of the Baldrige National Quality Program.
