This college is still looking to fill two dean positions.

After their last attempt to settle on a candidate to serve as dean of arts and sciences in April, the search process was restarted.

Dean Bill Richardson agreed to continue filling the position as an interim instead of returning to his former position as chair of kinesiology. Les Bleamaster put off retirement to cover for Richardson as interim chair of kinesiology.

President Robert Zeigler said in a phone interview that it was a time of need, and Bleamaster's and Richardson's decisions to remain in their current positions for the fall semester are appreciated.

Zeigler also said that some from the previous pool of candidates will be able to remain in the pool during the new search. He explained that there was nothing against the previous pool of candidates.

"I felt I would like for us to look a little further," Zeigler said.

Advertising for the position has closed, and the hiring committee will be evaluating applications. They plan to have somebody identified for the position and ready to serve in the spring semester.

There is also an opening for dean of student affairs. A committee is being formed to screen applicants mid-spring semester. Zeigler said that the plan is to have somebody ready to start late in the summer.
