Director: Wes Anderson
Producers: Steven M. Rales, Wes Anderson, Scott Rudin
Actors: Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody
Plot: Three brothers travel through India on a spiritual journey to bond with one another as they did before their father died.
Owen Wilson is a control freak who gathers his siblings for a surprise voyage to the convent where their mother lives. Wilson finds out Adrien Brody has been rummaging through their father's things. Jason Schwartzman is a writer who's involved in a film short before the actual movie begins.
The brothers meet aboard the Darjeeling Limited train and from the start, it's obvious the brothers have not talked to each other since their father's death. Wilson was in a car accident, Brody is having a child and Schwartzman is hungup on his ex-girlfriend. Their spiritual quest is derailed when they get kicked off the train and Wilson informs them the point of the trip is to find their mother.
The short Hotel Chevalier, found on iTunes, relates to the movie and adds to the quirkiness. The brothers' dysfunctions include the constant use of over-the-counter Indian pain killers and cough syrup as well as a battle over who should inherit a belt which matches the 11 suitcases belonging to their father. For some odd reason Brody decides to buy a poisonous snake that escapes on the train. Music throughout this amusing film adds to the personality.
