"Beauty and the Beast" auditions begin

This college's department of theater and speech communication and the office of student life will have auditions for a musical production of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," the musical, at 3 p.m. Dec 12-14. The location will be announced.
Director Paula Rodriguez, a theater and speech instructor, will be looking for 18 actors.
Students who wish to participate are required to be students in a college in the Alamo Community College District with a minimum 2.0 grade-point average.
Actors must come prepared with 32 bars of music to sing from any genre. Sheet music is preferred. An accompanist will be provided. A monologue is not necessary. Students will be asked to read from the script and improvise.
"Disney's Beauty and the Beast," the Broadway musical, is based on the 1991 Disney film of the same name. The production ran on Broadway from 1994-2007 for 5,464 performances, becoming Broadway's sixth-longest running production.
Rehearsals will begin Jan. 14 and continue from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Performances will be April 3-13.
