"In 1964-65 I became the president of the graduates club at the University of Texas in Austin," Sullivan said. "We used to invite speakers, and I invited Dr. King twice."
Sullivan added that his and King's busy schedules did not coincide for a mutual convenient time for such arrangement.
Both Sullivan and King were born in Atlanta GA.
After several phone conversations with King, Sullivan said he asked King if he would permit him to write a biography of King's life.
"He said by all means," Sullivan said.
Sullivan said he and King kept going back and forth with that thought, but it came short of becoming a reality because King was assassinated in 1968.
