At the Tuesday board meeting of the Alamo Community College District, members approved $450,000 to O'Connell Robertson and Associates Inc. for architect and engineering master planning services for a North Central College.
John Strybos, associate vice chancellor of facilities, informed trustees of progress that had been made in planning for the college.
A topographical and tree survey has been completed and the main entrance is almost finished, he said.
The master planning firm will be able to plan where to site buildings and parking lots.
They also will be able to choose an architecture style and color palettes, Strybos said.
They hope that the college will be able to accommodate 15,000-20,000 students.
This spring, this college enrolled 23,538, St. Philip's 10,655, Palo Alto College 7,906, Northwest Vista 11,325, and Northeast Lakeview 186.
The district bought 160 acres of land in Northwest Bexar County west of Interstate 10 near the Kendall County line. The physical address is 29587 Interstate 10, Boerne.
The first land purchase was April 2005 when the district bought 69 acres for $6 million.
The district then purchased an additional 68.84 acres for $8.5 million in November 2006.
Stybos said there is no timeline for when the district will begin construction on the new property.
