The office of student life held a 4-on-4 flag football tournament Tuesday at San Pedro Park, with five teams competing on a 60-yard field for 20 minutes per game.
Teams received 6 points for each touchdown and had four downs to reach the end zone.
Team 1 received a bye to the second round, meaning they were automatically placed into the next round, and would face the winner of the first match, Team 2 against Team 3.
Business freshman Brian Richardson completed his day with five touchdowns and three interceptions.
Two of the interceptions came in the first game, including a fourth down Hail Mary pass from the opposing team, which turned into a touchdown on the ensuing drive.
His team scored on a 50-yard pass late in the game to take an 18-12 win and advance to the next round.
Team 4 also took an 18-12 decision over Team 5.
Team 4 used a combination of long passes (40 yards) and grinding fourth-down drives.
The game's final drive featured a white-knuckle effort by Team 4.
While the team had only 10 yards to travel, Team 4 continued to make stops on short passes until they finally scored the game-winner on fourth down.
In the next match, Team 3 trumped Team 1 in a 24-18 overtime decision.
Interceptions made a difference for both teams.
Richardson took his third interception of the day from the back of his team's end zone and high stepped his way to a 70-yard score.
Team 1 made two interceptions, including a pick on the last play of regulation which helped stave off a late rally and forced sudden-death overtime.
However, Team 3 took the win on a 40-yard touchdown pass.
Teams 3 and 4 vied for the championship; Team 3's 30-24 overtime triumph contained no shortage of drama.
The teams matched each other's scores until Team 3 made a late interception, a turnover it used to take a 24-18 lead with only 12 seconds remaining.
The game looked over when two seconds remained and 40 yards stood between Team 1 and a touchdown.
