District administrators have gone to new lengths to assure that people who are not able to attend the board of trustees meetings are up-to-date.
Not only are board members TV stars, they have the opportunity to be podcast phenoms.
Podcasts are audio files that can be heard online or can be downloaded onto an MP3 player.
Robert Bruce, district multimedia coordinator, said that he has been testing the technology as a different way to reach the masses.
The podcasts have been up since the March regular board meeting, Bruce said, adding that he tries to have them available within 30 minutes to an hour after the meetings end.
"You have no reason to miss something now," he said.
Another feature added to the district Web site is the results from regular board meetings. Bruce said now people can check the Web site the morning after the meeting and find out what actions the board took.
"It's giving the family of ACCD and the general public instant access to what went on," Bruce said.
Podcasts can be used on all computers, using either iTunes or Windows Media Player.
Another feature, Bruce said, is that they can be downloaded to portable audio devices.
Bruce said he has been working for the district for 17 years, and he started keeping track of board meetings by recording audio on tapes.
"We've come a long way," he said.
Podcasts of the meetings can be heard at http://www.accd.edu/district/distmm/podcasts.htm.
Videos of the meetings can be seen live online at http://www.accd.edu/district/distmm/video/videos.htm while they are happening and on television from noon-2 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 and Grande Cable Channel 19.
