Complaints about the temperature in the women's restroom took two calls on two separate days before it was responded to, Sanchez said.
Sanchez, who works in the English department office in Room 123 of Gonzales Hall, said the temperature can only be changed in that room from English Chair Alex Bernal's office.
Otherwise, individual rooms and offices need to have air conditioning adjusted through maintenance, Sanchez said.
Ortega said complaints about the temperature come into the maintenance hotline on a daily basis.
Political science Professor Christy Woodward-Kaupert said she is usually prepared to spend time in her office by wearing a jacket, but Wednesday was extremely cold.
"It was miserable in here yesterday," she said Thursday.
The classrooms in Chance Academic Center are either hot or freezing, she said.
She said it is important that the offices and classrooms receive circulation, but the air conditioning does not need to be set at 60 degrees.
Ortega said the college likes to have the standard temperature be at 74 degrees.
With the air conditioning running all day in some buildings, energy consumption is a concern, which is one of the reasons the air conditioning motors are not run at full capacity, Ortega said.
The motors are normally run at 60 hertz, whereas those in Fletcher are being run at between 20 to 30 hertz, he said.
He also does not want the occupants of the building to be blown away by the air.
The maintenance hotline is 733-2222.
