It was originally thought that there would be one of these meetings each month, but scheduling conflicts make this prospect unlikely, she said.

Cleary was the first vice chancellor to volunteer, she said, and the college has been trying to work with James McLaughlin, vice chancellor of administration, to be the next to take part, but his schedule has been prohibitive and a date has yet to be set.

The idea to have regular chancellor forums came when Chancellor Bruce Leslie spoke at the colleges to address concerns from faculty and staff that the district, under his watch, was being run in a "topdown, invasive, corporate culture."

Because that first chancellor meeting came on the heels of a controversial event - a board meeting where district administrators were hired in violation of district policy - Howard said she expected that meeting to draw many more people than the most recent one with Cleary.

In fact, Leslie's forum drew a crowd that spilled out of Room 120 of the visual arts center, while Cleary addressed a group of roughly 40 faculty and staff.

That is not to say that Cleary's visit did not draw interest.

Cleary fielded the submitted questions read by Jeff Hunt, chair of theater and speech communication, who moderated Leslie's meeting. Cleary requested this specifically because at that meeting, Hunt asked the questions in a voice that was "cartoonish"- in a good way.

There was a lot of interest in Banner, which, Cleary said, should be up by January of 2010 with most of the modules ready for use in the fall semester of that year.

Banner will be used along with Blackboard Vista, which will be used for online instruction, and the two programs will work in tandem to replace WebCT, he said.

Installing and implementing these new software programs takes time and effort, he said, which bumps into what he sees as a reluctance to change in the district.

J. Martin Ortega, director of admissions and records, wanted to know how much this migration process is going to hurt.
