He said it is possible for the board to set a policy to have the apartments available only for students enrolled in district colleges.

In other news, trustees unanimously approved a special tuition at an increase of 50 percent of the in-district rate for in-district students who have completed 125 percent of a degree program, or have 75 credit hours, but have not graduated. This will be effective in fall 2013.

According to the minute order, there are currently about 5,478 students with more than 75 credit hours taking an average of six credit hours per semester. Assuming 35 percent of students are retained for five years, additional annual revenue of $920,304 would be produced.

At the July 17 committee meetings, Leslie said the revenue generated would be eliminated as students start to understand that they need to complete a degree and not take more hours.

Committee meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in Room 101 of Killen at 201 W. Sheridan.

The board will conduct its next regular meeting Aug. 21.
