A new program at the transfer center is Transfer Connections, a collaboration of counselors from this college and the University of Texas-San Antonio to help students transferring to UTSA and other four-year colleges.
The program is designed to help students at this college with applications, admissions and advising. An adviser also will help with scholarship eligibility, tours of UTSA and college-readiness workshops.
Although Connections primarily helps students transferring to UTSA, Vanessa Contreras-Sanson, UTSA program coordinator, and adviser Rosalinda Garza said they are willing to help students transferring to other universities.
"This is a personalized partnership program," Contreras-Sanson said Wednesday. "We help students and give academic advice."
Many students, especially those who are the first generation in their family to attend college, can be confused by the college process, she said. "We are here to offer the help that SAC students need."
The UTSA staff meets with students on a walk-in basis 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday. Students also may make appointments for other weekdays.
For more information, visit the UTSA office in Room 107 of Moody Learning Center or call 486-0337.
